Frequently Asked Questions
-
Services are provided in an office at the Hope House located at 191 Church Rd. in Bridgewater, NJ.
-
Provided that the schedule allows and the center gives permission for services to be rendered there, I would go to the daycare. There is an additional fee for services provided outside of the main office.
-
I am very flexible. If you think your child will perform better with you in the room, you can absolutely stay in; however, over time, most parents feel comfortable in the waiting room once their child is acclimated to the therapy setting.
-
The evaluation needs to be provided for me to review and must be less than one year old. Additionally, some insurances mandate that the evaluation be completed by the treating facility. You will need to ask your carrier if that is a requirement if you are going to submit for reimbursement.
-
A formal evaluation needs to be completed in order for codes to be provided. Please note that if you provide an evaluation completed by another facility for review, you must have the codes the evaluating therapist used in order for me to document them.

Sessions can be scheduled for 30, 45 or 60 minutes.

I’m an out-of-network provider, which means payment is due at the time of service and I give you an itemized invoice to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement at your out-of-network benefit.
Many plans cover a meaningful portion of speech therapy. Some cover none at all. Before you decide anything, call your insurer and ask the five questions listed below, and you’ll know exactly where you stand.
If your plan doesn’t cover speech therapy, that isn’t the end of the conversation. Call me and we’ll talk it through.
-
Fees depend on session length and whether you’re starting with a full evaluation. I’ll go through all of it with you on our first call, before you commit to anything, so there are no surprises.
-
It depends entirely on the child and what we’re working on. Most of the families I see are with me somewhere between six months and a year. Some need less. We reassess as we go, and I’ll always tell you honestly when I think we’re done.
-
Usually within a week or two. After we talk on the phone, I send you my policies and an insurance handout, we schedule the evaluation, and therapy normally begins within one to three weeks of that first call.
-
If we’re doing a full evaluation, that’s two 45-minute testing sessions. I write a report and you’ll have it in your hands before therapy starts, so you know exactly what we found and what we’re working toward.
-
Often, yes. School services are provided when a child meets educational eligibility criteria, and they’re usually shorter and sometimes delivered in a group. Many of the families I see use me alongside school services rather than instead of them.
-
No. You can call me directly. Some insurance plans require a referral for reimbursement, so it’s worth asking your insurer, but you don’t need one to get started with me.
-
Yes. I spent years in rehabilitation and acute care hospitals before opening this practice, and I continue to see adults.
Insurance Questions
What do I ask my insurance company?
1- Call your medical insurance company and inquire what your benefits for speech therapy are.
2- Check on both in-network and out-of-network benefits.
3- Ask if preauthorization is needed.
4- Also make sure that the coverage is not restorative only, meaning that the service is a covered entity only if it is for an illness or injury where prior function was lost.
5- The Bayles Family Speech Center is an out-of-network provider and a fee for service agency applies. Therefore, payment is expected when services are rendered. You will be given a receipt with all required information. Submitting invoices and claim forms, as per your insurance company’s requirement for reimbursement is done by you, at your discretion. The Bayles Family Speech Center does not submit to insurance directly.
