Kidnection

A class for little ones and the grown-ups who love them

Forty-five minutes a week of music, movement, stories and play for children from birth to three, led by a speech-language pathologist. You’ll leave knowing what to do at home, not just what we did in class.

What Kidnection is

Kidnection is a weekly class for babies and toddlers, attended together with a parent or caregiver. It’s built on The KIDnection Method™, a program designed by a pediatric speech-language pathologist specifically to support early communication.

Every week focuses on a different communication skill, so the class builds as it goes rather than repeating the same hour each time.

It’s small on purpose. You’ll know the other families by the second week.

What happens in 45 minutes

Music and movement

Songs, instruments and movement that give little ones a reason to join in before they have the words to.

Story time

Books chosen for the sounds and rhythms that help early language take hold.

Sensory play

Hands-on exploring, because babies and toddlers learn language through their whole bodies, not just their ears.

Something to take home

Every week I’ll show you one thing you can keep doing at home, in the middle of an ordinary day. That’s where most of the progress actually happens.

Who it’s for

Kidnection is for children from birth to three years old, with a parent, grandparent or caregiver alongside them.

Tiny babies are welcome. At that age the class is mostly for you, which is exactly as it should be, because what you do in the hours between classes is where early language is really built.

Some families come because they want something to do together that’s a bit more purposeful than a playgroup. Some come because they’ve started wondering whether their child is saying as much as they should be, and they’re not ready to do anything more formal than that.

Both are good reasons. You don’t need a concern to come, and you don’t need a diagnosis to come.

Is this speech therapy?

No, and that’s deliberate. Kidnection is a communication development class, not treatment. There’s no evaluation, no goals written down, and nothing submitted to insurance.

What it is instead is forty-five minutes a week with someone who has spent 31 years watching how children learn to communicate. If something does come up, you’re already standing next to a person who can tell you what she sees, and what she’d do about it.
